Kapellen is situated in the northwest of the province of Antwerp. In the north it borders to the Netherlands and in the south to the city of Antwerp. It is a large green border-municipality of the metropolis Antwerp and close to the port of Antwerp
Kapellen shows a transition between two landscapes,in the West the “polder” on the banks of the river “Schelde”, and in the east the sandy soils of the “Kempen”, the comunity is rich in parks and woodlands (44,5%).
Kapellen is well known in the horse sport as it hosts the Belgian championship Jumping and offers the only listed polo field in Belgium.
In the burrough of Hoogboom, you can discover a listed building with a rich 150-year old history.
As from July 2009 this house, has been partially converted to guestrooms under the name: “‘t Koeckenhuys”. During the conversion all efforts have been made to keep the authenticity and the character.
